Depending where you live in Europe it will only take between 2-4 hrs by air to arrive in Malta and begin to immerse yourself in a culture and heritage dating back thousands of years. OUR BOATS At DIVE DEEP BLUE we have access to a range of options for boat diving. This enables us to pick the right craft for the job. The traditional Maltese Luzzu with its unique charm and character is always a favourite with our divers when we want to spend a relaxing day around the coast of Malta, Comino or Gozo. The smaller twin engine launch is very handy when we need that extra bit of speed. We also have a 5.8 metre and a 9 metre RIB available when this type of craft is required. All in all we have, and use, the right boat for the job and in so doing we guarantee the best possible experience for our divers. Our boats are crewed at all times and carry all necessary emergency equipment. The safety and service offered by our instructor/guides and boat operators is second to none. CENTRE

We schedule the day for your convenience with a two tank morning excursion either by land or boat leaving you the afternoon to sight-see, siesta or socialise at our pool-side snack bar with friends or family.
Regular dive trips to Gozo and Comino offer non divers the chance to come along for the ride and sample the abundance of above water attractions on offer to them, or snorkel from boat or shore under our watchful eye.
With our diver friendly facility we have adequate washing, drying and storage area so there is no need to carry those heavy equipment bags to and fro each day.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT SCUBA DIVINGQ. I have never dived before, can I try it? A. You can try diving with an introductory try dive in confined water. Introductory diving is fun and safe as the maximum number of divers per instructor is kept to a minimum, which enables you to get initial tuition before diving then try out your new experience in a beautiful environment in very capable hands. If you wish it is possible to have your first try dive in our pool, but we’re sure that once tried, you will want to get into the sea as soon as possible. Q. Is it difficult to learn to dive? A. Not for most people. If you’re comfortable in the water and a reasonably good swimmer, you should be able to learn Q. How long does it take to get certified? A. When working with us with full day instruction it depends on how fast you learn. The standard Open Water Diver/Ocean Diver certification will typically be a three to four day process. Q. I get pain in my ears when I go below 3 metres. Can I dive? A. Part of learning to dive is learning to clear your ears… that is equalizing the pressure inside and outside your eardrum. It takes people a few days to get the hang of this, but soon you’ll do it automatically. If you have ear infections or other blockages that might keep you from clearing your ears, then you should check with a doctor before proceeding. Q. How long will I be able to stay underwater? A. That depends on how deep you are and how heavily you are breathing. Air gets compressed at greater depths, so with each breath you’ll go through more air. You can often stay down 45 minutes to an hour at depths of 5 to 10 metres. On deeper dives you may only get 15 to 20 minutes. As you get more experienced you’ll learn to prolong your air supply by breathing more slowly, by conserving your energy and, most of all, becoming more confident and relaxed in the water. Q. Can I wear contact lenses or glasses while diving? A. Soft contact lenses should not be a problem. Bring an extra pair or two in case one washes out. Eyeglasses worn under a dive mask are not practicable. However, it is more economical than you might think to have your prescription ground into the mask itself. Your optician or dive shop can advise you on where to have it done. If your prescription is quite low, it might not be necessary to have special lenses, as the water magnifies naturally. Q. Do I need a medical to dive in Malta? A. We have a self-assessment form that needs to be completed and signed by you. Should you have any of the problems listed on the form, it would be necessary to have a doctor check you over and give you the go-ahead to dive. This is not a problem and we can arrange for you to see the doctor at the dive base. Q. I’m a certified diver but I haven’t dived in a while, is this ok? A. No problem! Just tell us when booking. As all our dives are guided we make sure that you are well looked after throughout the dive. If you wish to practice your basic skills, this would be possible at the end of the dive. Every diver not known to us is first given a check dive and from this we can assess which group he should be joining. Q. Will I be shore diving or boat diving? A. A lot of our dive sites can be reached from the shore. We have beautiful reefs, wrecks and caves all within easy reach from the shore. We also have plenty of dive sites that are reached by boat. Depending upon which dive site we visit we can also take a fast, very well equipped rib. We also take the ferry and do two shore dives on the lovely island of Gozo. Q. How many dives will I do daily and how long will I be out diving? A. We like to offer two dives a day but obviously it’s your choice as to how many you do. We normally go out for the day, meeting at the dive base around 8.30am and returning about 2.30pm. This leaves most of the afternoon for you to spend time with your family having had a good days diving! Q. What are the sea temperatures? A. During the summer months the sea temperature will go up to around 27/28 degrees centigrade with divers wearing just a shortie or 5mm one-piece. In the winter months it drops to around 14 degrees centigrade and there is a mixture of 5/7mm two-piece wetsuits or drysuits. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT MALTAQ. What’s life-after-diving like in Malta? A. Brilliant. You will find plenty for you and your family to do on the beautiful island of Malta. There are jeep treasure hunts, jeep safaris, horse riding, go-karting, swimming with dolphins, weekly festas, weekly markets, a craft village and a superb golf course! Q. What is there for the kids? A. Apart from the above, there’s a splash and fun park, amusement centres, beautiful beaches to build sand castles and lovely warm, clear water to swim in. Q. Is it easy to travel around the island? A. The bus service is excellent with plenty of buses covering the whole of the island with very cheap fares. To make life even easier and cheaper you can purchase a week’s bus pass at a very reasonable cost. There are also many car hire firms. If it’s a car you want, then let us know and we will point you in the right direction. Q. Is the water safe to drink? A. Yes it is, but as it tastes a bit bitter, most people buy bottled water for drinking but use tap water for tea and coffee. Q. What is the Maltese currency? A. We have Maltese Liri and cents. There are 100 cents in one Maltese Liri and there are approximately 60 cents to one pound sterling. Q. What language is spoken in Malta? A. Malta does have its own language… Maltese but, apart from their native tongue, most Maltese people speak good English and Italian Q. What temperatures can we expect?A. During the summer months the temperature will probably be between 30 to 35 degrees centigrade, cooling off slightly during the evenings and nights. During the winter months the lowest temperature is likely to be around 14 degrees centigrade, but it could get quite a bit colder during the evenings and nights so bring a warm coat! Q. What is the accommodation like in Malta? A. There are many first-class hotels offering excellent accommodation with nightly entertainment. There are also many smaller and less expensive hotels offering a very good service. If you prefer self-catering apartments, then we have plenty of those too! If you need help in choosing, we can offer varied accommodation depending on what’s right for you and your family. Q. Where will we find the best night life? A. All the best night clubs and bars can be found in Bugibba or Paceville. Both places come alive at night with live entertainment, karaoke or disco and most clubs and bars stay open until they are empty. Great fun is to be had… provided you are not diving the next day!! Q. What about the restaurants? A. Most of the restaurants are excellent with good food at reasonable prices. The tourists’ menus are very good too. A good tip for you - have a quick peep inside and if there are plenty of local people eating… then it’s good!! Q. Is it worth taking a trip to Gozo and Comino? A. Most definitely. The ferry runs frequently from Cirkewwa at the northern most tip of Malta, taking around half an hour to reach Gozo. Just enough time to take a snack with tea or coffee! Alternatively you can remain on deck and enjoy the spectacular views. You can go with an organised group or take your own hire car and do your own thing. Either way Gozo has lots to offer and we’re sure you’ll enjoy your day. Comino is much smaller and boasts the Blue Lagoon for swimming, with beautiful clear electric blue water. Apart from a walk around the island, there isn’t much else to do other than lie in the sun and chill out. Comino is reached by a small boat leaving Cirkewwa frequently for the island. Don’t forget, you can combine the sightseeing of Gozo and Comino by diving the two islands with us!! Dive Sites Listed are some of the more well known sites of Malta Comino and Gozo but there are many more that we keep to ourselves. Shore Dives in Malta Cirkewwa By far Malta's most visited site and has many different dives each with their own unique appeal. They include: M.V. Rozi Just 70 metres from the entry point lying at 36 metres you will be met by the sight of this superb wreck. Scuttled initially as an attraction for a submarine tour that no longer runs this Tug Boat holds a special place in hearts of divers visit her and get seduced by her stately grace. Often surrounded by Mediterranean fish of all shapes and sizes, this is a dive that you cannot miss seeing if you visit our shores. The Madonna This famous underwater marker is located just over the reef wall at 17 metres and is one of the attractions that nearly every visitor has on his tick list. Placed there many years ago as a good luck charm for divers this small statue watches over her underwater flock. The Arch A gentle swim to right of the entry point and you will eventually arrive at this magnificent underwater feature. Once a cave the roof has long since collapsed leaving this beautiful halo in the sea often patrolled by shoals of Jacks and Barracuda. The top of the arch is 9 metres and the sandy bottom is at 18 metres. Anchor Bay Sometimes referred to as Popeye Village this site is reached through a narrow cutting in the rock wall. It is a shallow site with a maximum depth of around 17 metres and its main attraction is a cave that runs into the cliff face at 6 metres. You can surface in several chambers in this cave and it provides a great way of introducing this kind of diving to those who always wanted to take a look. Qawra Point A shallow reef dive along colourful rock formations. This dive can also be done as a deeper dive on the outer side of the reef where it may reach 36 metres. Blue Grotto This dive site, along with Cirkewwa in the north of Malta, ranks as one of the most visited sites on the island as it offers dives for all levels of experience. Its many features include of course the wreck of the Um El Faroud but long before this wreck was put in place this area was a major attraction. The depth ranges form 4 to 40 metres and offers such diversity as to please any dive enthusiast. Um- El- Faroud Renamed when she was bought, this ship started life as a freighter after being built in Sunderland England. After purchase and conversion to a Libyan oil tanker she was the victim of a tragic explosion in the Malta dry docks while in for repair. She was laid to rest just of the coast of a site we call "Blue Grotto" in memory of the nine men that lost their lives in the accident. Top deck 15m, sandy bottom, 36 metres. Bell Cave The entrance to this cave is usually through the lower opening at 22 metres after which the diver heads up into the chimney and out through slits in the reef wall. The Left Wall Starts its descent from 9 to 33 metres. Excellent wall dive with superb sea life from start to finish. Right Reef Curls seductively out of the valley and ranges form the surface down to 30 metres, you could not ask for more. Ghar Lapsi This beautiful part of the Maltese coast is a favourite with the locals as a swimming area as it has superb and picturesque sheltered water rising into shady land caverns ideal for shading from the summer sun. For divers though it is the network of shallow caves and gently sloping reef down through gin clear waters to a sandy sea bed at 15 metres that entice us to this location. HMS Maori This WWII destroyer now sits in the sand at 17 metres with the top part of the remaining structure at 9 metres just 70metres off the coast in Sliema Creek overlooked by the magnificent Fort St Elmo. A lot of this wreck is buried underneath a bed of sand. However after over 50 years in a shallow resting place it is remarkably still a very interesting dive. The Odilia Nestled in the centre of Kalkara Bay one of Malta's famous ancient 3 cities. It is only 12m deep and is sheltered from bad weather. Visibility on this wreck can be very limited but that does not detract form its size and history. The Odilia In het midden van Kalkara Bay, een van Malta’s bekende “3 cities”. Het schip ligt op slechts 12 meter en is beschut tegen slecht weer. Het zicht op het wrak kan erg beperkt zijn, maar dat weerhoud je er niet van de enorme omvang en de historische waarde ervan in te zien. X139 Waterlighter Tot voorkort werd gedacht dat dit schip gewoon een service schip was dat tijdens de Tweede Wereld Oorlog terwijl het nog aan de kant lag getorpedeerd werd. Nu is duidelijk geworden dat het een belangrijk historische waarde heeft; het blijkt namelijk een van de laatste landingsvaartuigen te zijn die tijdens de Gallipoli campagne ingezet zijn. Het ligt nu verticaal in het water tussen de 6 en 24 meter. Tug St.Michael and Tug No.10 Scuttled in Marsascala Bay very close to each other, in fact they are close enough to be seen on one dive. No. 10, the smaller of the two sites at 19 metres whilst St.Michael is in 21metres. GOZO DIVES Coral Cave By swimming through an area named the gardens one swims through a small v-shaped crack in the wall onto a ledge that drops of 25 meters opening into the blue. Going straight down and to the left one swims into the huge gaping opening of Coral cave starting at 18 meters, This cave roof has some excellent examples of hard coral and sea horses often choose to hide out at this site. Inland Sea Entrance is obtained over a slipway into standing depth.After a short swim across what is called the inland sea we dive down a gradual incline to a max depth in the cave of 25 meters. Swimming through this huge tunnel in the limestone cliffs, the deep blue colour is framed at the far end by the rock fissure. This then leads out to the open sea and the drop of 50 meters below. Divers are usually happy to explore either the right or left walls which offer fantastic sea life. Crocodile Rock Viewed from shore this offshore rock looks like a crocodile. The dive can be attempted from the shore but is usually a boat dive. The dive starts from a shallow lagoon 6m to 8 m deep. After a few meters one swims over a steep drop off that goes down to a maximum depth of 45m. divers can enjoy swimming along this vertical wall in the company of groupers, shoals of salema, amberjacks and tunas. Ta' Cenc Cliffs This site is situated under the highest cliffs in Gozo. Nudibranchs and lobsters can be encountered in between the boulders which dot the area. Blue Hole The blue hole is world famous and situated on the western edge of Gozo at a place known as Dwejra. Entrance into a lagoon offers divers a multitude of options as this site has something for every level of diver Here. Stunning caves fantastic walls and crystal clear blue waters have rightly earned this site it's reputation as a world class dive. Xwejni The mosaic like structure of the few remaining traditional salt pans on the islands are the prelude to this dive site. Here one can enjoy swerving along canals whilst spotting a large variety of fish such as eels, octopus, star fish, morays and sea urchins. Double Arch Reef This dive is quite a swim from shore but worth every fin stroke, it is another spectacular. The dive takes its name from a unique geological formation, where two arches, one on top of the other, pierce this slightly offshore reef. Due to its location it abounds with thousands of damsel fish, and shoals of different breams. Often when the current is right, big shoals of hunting barracudas can also be seen. Cathedral Cave (The Blue Dome) This cave is situated in Ghasri valley. This dive can be done from the shore but requires a walk down some steep steps cut in the rock face. At the mouth of the valley at a depth of 18m one will find a huge entrance leading you to the domed vault known as Cathedral Cave. Inside there are some boulders covered with colourful sponges and soft coral. During this dive we have the opportunity to surface in the dome itself where we will be surrounded by electrical blue light coming from the underwater entrance. Definitely worth the effort. Reqqa Reef This dive is done along a vertical wall that goes down to 40 meters. It continues on a reef jutting from the main land, the shallowest part of which is 18m. The large boulders propped against the vertical underwater cliffs appear as though they have been deliberately placed, and offer an excellent refuge for groupers, dentex, octopus and large scorpionfish. . Billinghurst Cave Billinghurst cave is found on the north side of the island. The top of the cave entrance is just few meters below the surface and the bottom is at 27m meters. A giant stride from the top of the cliffs above the cave and you are ready to begin a fifty meter swim in the cave where one will be surrounded by lots of multi-coloured sponges, soft coral and virgin lace coral. It is possible to surface at the very end of the tunnel and only experienced divers using the correct equipment should be tempted this far inside. Xlendi Bay Xlendi is one of Gozo's tourist resorts. The bay is at the end of a long narrow cove with its northern side protected by steep cliffs while the southern side abounds with bars, cafes, restaurants and hotels. A tunnel passes through these cliffs and leads to the open sea. The dive starts in the bay, at a depth of 9 meters. One then swims through the tunnel, which has a really splendid entrance and where the diver can find goatfish and painted combers actively feeding on the tunnel floor with numerous damselfish and cardinal. Swimming through the tunnel, one can admire the intense blue coming from the exit. Outside the tunnel, one will continue swimming over boulders and on to a pyramid like reef where barracudas abound. Fessej Rock This huge pinnacle rises from a depth of sixty meters. During this boat dive, divers circle the rock, carefully maintaining a safe depth but also enjoying barracudas and the ubiquitous grouper Xlendi Wreck This is the former ferry boat MV Xlendi which was scuttled and is situated at a depth of 40 m. It's size is impressive and due the fact that it landed up side down it can be quite confusing for the unsuspecting diver. Resting at that depth you must also consider the effect that nitrogen narcosis will be having on your judgment.. BOAT DIVES Boat Dives of the Maltese Islands St Paul's Island A short boat trip form st pauls bay and we can begin to explore the reefs around this little island which has been reputed to be the place that st Paul was ship wrecked and so brought Christianity to Malta. Starting form 5 meters we can descend to max depth of 25 meters tracing the reef wall and rocky seabed. Lahrax point This dive begins once the boat is anchored close the collapsed cave that forms one of the spectacular features of this dive. depth varies form 5 to 25 meters and we usually conclude the dive by exploring the inside if the blow hole that the strong Maltese winter storms has created. Comino Caves Always a favourite with visitors to our shores this shallow network of caverns and caves delights all who visit. One of the highlights is the time spent feeding the shoals of bream that flock to any diver that even hints that a snack is being offered. Crystal Lagoon A site ideal for photographs where the white sandy bottom reflects the warm Mediterranean sun rays shining through. Lantern Point Dropping anchor in the shallows the dive usually starts by a decent through a tunnel from 5 to 17 meters. Then if you wish a further overhead is created by massive boulders offering yet more exploration. Coming back to the reef wall Barracuda Dentex and big morays can be spotted and the wall drops of to max depth of around 45 meters. Cominotto Reef This boat dive presents a number of fish species such as the rainbow wrasse, cuttlefish, sea bass and an abundance of damsel fish among the posedonia grass Alex's cave This is a very pleasant dive that stays within the 20 meter range and offers a tunnel to explore going back into the rock face for about 35 meters. It serves as a great first cave diving experience for intermediate divers. Bristol Blenheim Bomber Shot down on its approach to Malta during WWII and now lies on a sandy sea bed at 42 metres deep. As you descend from the shot line form our cover boat the spectacular view comes into your line of sight. If it is your first visit to this site the memory will linger in your minds eye for years to come. The Imperial Eagle After starting life on the Thames River in London this ship served for many years as a ferry between Malta and Gozo. After lying for a long time tied up in the Grand Harbour, it was eventually scuttled half a mile off Qawra Point and lies at a depth of 40m with its bow nosing up to a lovely reef cul-de-sac. At this site there is also the statue of the Christ in Ascension and a very old anchor next to an underwater arch. Torpedo ship Italian torpedo boat hit a mine in WWII whilst mine-laying around Malta. It sank to 40 metres. Spread over a 50 metres area surrounded by debris from planes and other war crafts, it serves as an example of the carnage that is inflicted when a contact is made with a mine. HMS Hellespont This wooden paddle steamer hit a mine in WWII while carrying out its duty. It sank immediately and sits upright on the bottom at 41m. A stunning wreck that remained remarkably intact. The St. Angelo A WWII Mine Sweeper which hit a mine on its way to the Grand Harbour. It now lies in 53 metres of water. HMS Stubborn Sitting in a nearly upright position at 57 metres on a sandy sea bed this pristine example of an S Class British submarine waits to greet those divers with the necessary training and experience. After long years of service the famous HMS Stubborn which had an out-standing naval history was scuttled to use as a sonar target just two miles off the northeast coast of Malta. We class this as an extended range dive as to attempt it as a single cylinder scuba diver is to take unnecessary risks. The Polynesian This French freighter sunk in WWI. Being 145metres long, it lies at a depth that varies between 53 metres and 70 metres. This wreck has been nicknamed the "Plate Ship" because of the number of artifacts still on it. Once again we treat this as an extended range or Trimix dive and it is tempting ill fate to dive this wreck on a single cylinder HMS Southwold British destroyer hit a mine in WWII. Many attempts to salvage it were futile as it was under severe attack from enemy aircraft. It lies in two pieces ranging in depth form 60 to 75 metres on a sandy seabed off the southern approaches to Grand Harbour. Bristol Beau Fighter This British aircraft lies on the bottom at 40m after being gunned in WWII on its way to Malta. Munxar Cave This cave's entrance is found at a depth of 15m on the surface of the reef. It leads down to a broad opening where the exit lies at 40m Imgieles Reef This reef has a surface of 18m and gradually slopes its way down to 40m. Around the reef lie a lot of wartime debris and wreckages. Delimara Cave This cave can be entered at the side of the reef at 21metres. It will then proceed into a wide chimney-like passage way leading towards the exit at 9m. Munxar Reef This reef starts at 15m and drops off to 45m. This reef is very rich in marine growth. There is also a crack on the top of the reef that leads down to a cave. May be dived on the same dive or separately. Bij DIVE DEEP BLUE maken we ons sterk om duikers te certificeren die in staat zijn met vertrouwen en veilig voor zichzelf en hun buddy’s te zorgen; dit kan alleen door een gedegen training bereikt worden.
We lopen de kantjes er niet vanaf, en onze prijzen zijn inclusief zonder verborgen extras. We bevelen ten zeerste aan al het lesmateriaal dat bij de desbetreffende cursus hoort zoals lesboek, duiktabellen en logboek aan te schaffen; indien, echter, de kosten een probleem vormen bestaat de mogelijkheid dit materiaal van ons lenen voor de duur van de opleiding. Onafhankelijke duikers hebben de mogelijkheid hun materiaal te wassen en te drogen voor een dagprijs van 2 LM, en kunnen tevens hun materiaal gratis bij ons op slaan (eigen risico).
Huurvoorwaarden: Alle schade of verlies dient volledig vergoed worden. Flessen mogen uitsluitend bij ons duikcentrum hervult worden. Materiaal dient dezelfde dag voor 17:00 uur ingeleverd te worden tenzij anders is overeengekomen. We eisen een vorm van garantie, zoals paspoort, identiteitskaart of borg.
Vaak gestelde vragen over duikenV, Ik heb nog nooit gedoken, kan ik dan proberen? A. Je kunt het proberen aan de hand van een introductieduik in een beschermde omgeving. Een introductie duik is leuk en veilig omdat het maximale aantal deelnemers per instructeur wordt beperkt tot een minimum wat betekent dat er tijd is voor een initiële les voor de duik en vervolgens je nieuwe ervaring te beleven in een prachtige omgeving onder deskundige begeleiding. Als je liever je eerste ervaring in een zwembad wilt beleven is dat ook mogelijk maar we zijn er zeker van dat wanneer je het geprobeerd hebt je zo snel mogelijk het ook in zee wilt proberen. V. Is het moeilijk om te leren duiken? A. Voor de meeste mensen niet. Als je je op je gemak voelt in het water en je bent een redelijk goede zwemmer zou het geen probleem moeten zijn. V. Hoe lang duurt het behalen van een duikbrevet? A. Als je met ons op basis van volle dagen werkt ligt het aan de snelheid waarop je leert. De opleiding tot het behalen van het standaard Open water / Ocean diver brevt duurt over het algemeen drie tot vier dagen. V. Als ik dieper dan 3 meter duik krijg ik pijn in mijn oren. Kan ik nu wel duiken?
V. Hoe lang kan ik onderwater blijven? A. Dat ligt aan de diepte en aan hoe snel je ademt. Lucht wordt samengedrukt op grotere diepte, dus hoe dieper hoe meer lucht je verbruikt bij iedere ademteug. Vaak kun je ruim 45 minuten blijven op een diepte van 5 tot 10 meter. Op grotere dieptes kun je misschien maar 15 tot 20 minuten blijven. Als je meer ervaring opdoet, leer je ook zuiniger met je lucht om te gaan, door langzamer te ademen, je energie te sparen en het allerbelangrijkst je op je gemak gaan voelen onder water. V. Kan ik contactlenzen of brillen dragen tijdens het duiken? A. Zachte lenzen moeten geen problemen opleveren. Neem in ieder geval een extra paar mee, voor het geval je er een verliest. Het dragen van een bril in je duikbril is niet praktisch. Het is echter mogelijk en vrij betaalbaar een duikbril op sterkte aan te schaffen. Je opticien of duikshop kan je adviseren waar je deze kunt laten maken. Als je een bril van geringe sterkte gebruikt heb je misschien niet eens een bril nodig omdat het water zelf al als een vergrootglas werkt. V. Heb ik een medische verklaring nodig om op Malta te duiken? A. We gebruiken een door jezelf in te vullen medische verklaring, dat je na het invullen dient te ondertekenen. Mocht een van de op het formulier genoemde kwalen op je van toepassing zijn dan dient een arts geraadpleegd te worden. Dit is echter geen probleem; wij kunnen dit ter plekke regelen, en een arts op de duikschool langs laten komen. V. Ik ben een gecertificeerde duiker maar ik heb al een tijd niet gedoken is dit ok? A. Geen probleem! Vertel het ons wel bij je boeking. Sinds al onze duiken met gids zijn verzekeren wij je dat je goede begeleiding krijgt. Als je de basis vaardigheden wilt herhalen kan dat aan het einde van de duik. Iedereen die voor het eerst bij ons duikt nemen we mee op een checkduik waardoor we in staat zijn vast te stellen in welke groep betreffende duiker het best zou passen. V. Duik ik van de kant of van een boot? A. Een groot aantal van onze duikplekken zijn vanaf land te bereiken. We hebben prachtige riffen, wrakken en grotten die makkelijk van de kant te bereiken zijn. We hebben ook genoeg duikplekken die per boot te bereiken zijn. We maken gebruik van een typische Maltese boot, een Luzzu, voor een dagtrip met daarin twee duiken rond het eiland Comino. We maken op zo’n dag ook een lunchstop op het prachtige eiland. Afhankelijk van de duikplek die we willen bezoeken kunnen we ook gebruik maken van een snelle uitstekend uitgeruste zodiac.Ook nemen we de veerboot naar het prachtige eiland Gozo waar we twee kantduiken maken. V. Hoeveel duiken kan ik per dag doen en hoeveel tijd neemt het in beslag? A. We bieden graag twee duiken per dag aan maar het is natuurlijk je eigen keus hoeveel je er wilt doen. We gaan over het algemeen uit van een hele dag, we ontmoeten elkaar op de duikschool om 8.30 uur in de morgen en komen terug rond 2.30 uur in de middag. Dit betekent dat na een prachtige dag duiken het grootste gedeelte van de middag doorgebracht kan worden met je familie V. Wat is de temperatuur van het water? A. Tijdens de zomermaanden loopt de temperatuur van het zeewater op tot zo’n 27, 28 graden Celsius, en duikers dragen dan over het algemeen een shortie of een 5 mm eendelig pak. In de winter daalt de temperatuur tot zo rond de 14 graden, en dragen de duikers 5 tot 7 mm tweedelige pakken of droogpakken. Veel gestelde vragen over MaltaV. Wat is er buiten het duiken om te beleven op Malta? A. Enorm veel. Er is op het mooie Malta meer dan voldoende te beleven voor jou en je familie. Er zijn schatzoektochten per jeep, jeepsafaris, je kunt paardrijden, go-karten, zwemmen met dolfijnen. Daarnaast zijn er wekelijkse ‘festas’ , markten een ‘craft’ dorp en een prachtige golf-baan. V. Wat is er voor de kinderen te doen? A. Naast wat er in het vorige antwoord werd genoemd, zijn er amusementshallen, prachtige stranden om enorme zandkastelen te bouwen, een waterpretpark en heerlijk warm helder zwemwater. V. Is er eenvoudig over het eiland te reizenA. Er zijn prima busverbindingen over het hele eiland, tegen hele lage tarieven. Om het nog eenvoudiger en goedkoper te maken kun je voor een heel aantrekkelijk bedrag een weekpas kopen. Er zijn ook vele autoverhuurbedrijven. Wil je een auto huren, vraag ons advies voor het maken van de juiste keuze. V. Is het drinkwater veilig? A. Ja, maar het smaakt een beetje bitter, de meeste mensen gebruiken daarom water uit flessen als drinkwater en kraanwater voor thee of koffie. V. Wat is de Maltese munt? A. We hebben de Maltese Liri en centen. Er gaan 100 centen in een Liri. Een euro is ongeveer 50 Maltese Liri cent. V. Welke taal wordt er in Malta gesproken?A. Malta heeft haar eigen taal, het Maltees. Maar naast deze eigen taal spreken de meeste Maltesers goed engels en italiaans. V. Welke temperaturen kunnen we verwachten?A. Tijdens de zomermaanden schommelt de temperatuur zo tussen de 30 en 35 graden Celsius en koelt het iets af in de avond en nacht. Tijdens de winter is de laagste temperatuur rondom de 14 graden Celsius, maar koelt het in de avond en nacht behoorlijk af. Breng in de winter daarom een warme trui of jas mee ! V. Hoe zien de accomodaties er in Malta uit?A. Er zijn vele eersteklas hotels met prima kamers en entertainment in de avonduren. Daarnaast zijn er ook verscheidene kleinere en goedkopere hotels met een prima service. Als je liever een selfcatering appartement huurt, hebben we een ruime aanbo. Wij kunnen je helpen de juiste accomodatie te vinden voor het hele gezin. V. Waar vinden we het beste nachtleven?A. Alle betere nachtclubs en cafes zijn te vinden in Bugibba of Paceville. Beide plaatsen komen ‘s avonds tot leven met live muziek, karaoke of disco. De meeste clubs en café’s blijven open tot de laatste klant vertrekt. Erg gezellig om tot de kleine uurtjes door te halen,,,, mits er de volgende dag niet gedoken hoeft te worden. V. En hoe zit het met de restaurants? A. De meeste restaurants zijn uitstekend met goede maaltijden tegen redelijke prijzen. Velen bieden een prima ‘toeristen menu’. Een goede tip, kijk eerst even binnen of er Maltesers binnen zitten, dat is een goed teken! V. Is een trip naar Gozo en Comino de moeite waard ? A. Zeker weten ! De veerpont vaart frequent vanuit Cirkewwwa in het noorden van Malta, waar je na een half uurtje aankomt op Gozo. Net genoeg tijd voor een kopje thee of koffie met een lichte snack. Je kunt natuurlijk ook op het dek genieten van prachtige vergezichten. Je kunt mee met een georganiseerde trip of zelf met een huurauto Gozo verkennen. Hoe dan ook Gozo heeft veel te bieden en je zult er een fijne dag beleven. Comino is veel kleiner dan Gozo, en je kunt er met een kleinere veerpont naar Blue Lagoon om heerlijk te zwemmen in het azuur blauwe water. Naast een rondwandeling over het eiland is er niet meer te doen dan te relaxen in het zonnetje op het strand. En onthoud, dat je een bezoek aan deze eilanden kunt combineren met een Dive Deep Blue duiktrip! Duikplekken Hieronder zijn een aantal van de bekenste duikplekken op Malta, Comino en Gozo weergegeven maar er zijn er veel meer. Die houden we voor ons zelf . Kantduiken in Malta
Cirkewwa De meest bezochte duikplek op Malta met vele verschillende duiken elk met eigen unieke kenmerken. De duiken zijn de volgende:
M.S. Rozi Slechts 70 meter van de kant op een diepte van 36 meter word je verrast door de aanblik van een geweldig wrak. In eerste instantie gezonken als attractie voor een niet meer bestaande onderzeese toer heeft deze duwboot een speciaal plekje in de harten van de duikers die hem bezoeken en verleid worden door zijn statige gratie. Vaak omringd door Mediterrane vissen van allerlei vormen en maten is dit een duik die je niet mag missen wanneer je onze kusten bezoekt. The Madonna Dit bekende onderwater beeld is te vinden net over het rif op een diepte van 17 meter en is een van de attracties die bijna elke bezoeker op zijn “boodschappenlijstje” heeft staan. Een aantal jaar geleden op deze plek neergezet om over duikers te waken kijkt dit kleine beeld uit over haar onderwater bezoekers. The Arch Rechts van het ingangspunt bereik je na een korte zwemtocht deze prachtige onderwaterboog. In het verleden was dit een grot waarvan het plafond al sinds lange tijd ingestort is resulterend in deze prachtige halo die vaak omringd wordt door scholen Jacks en Barracuda’s. De bovenkant van de boog ligt op 9 meter en de zandige bodem op 18 meter diepte. Anchor Bay De duikplek wordt vaak aangeduid als Popeye Village en is bereikbaar door een nauwe opening in de rotswand. De maximale diepte van deze plek is 17 meter en de hoofdattractie is een grot die op een diepte van 6 meter te bereiken is. Het is mogelijk in de verschillende kamers van deze grot naar de oppervlakte te gaan en het geweldige plafond te aanschouwen. Deze grot geeft de duiker een inleiding in dit soort duiken en opent een deur voor degenen die altijd al een kijkje in een onderwatergrot wilden hebben. Qawra Point Een ondiep rif met kleurrijke rotsformaties. Deze duik kan ook dieper gemaakt worden aan de buitenzijde van het rif waar je een maximale diepte van zo’n 36 meter kunt bereiken. Blue Grotto Deze duikplek is samen met Cirkewwa de drukbezochtste duikplek daar het voor elk niveau interessant is. Een van de attracties is natuurlijk het wrak van de Um El Faroud, maar ook voordat dit schip hier afgezonken werd was het al een geliefde duikplek. De diepte varieert van 4 tot 40 meter, en er zijn zoveel verschillende duikmogelijkheden dat deze plek voor iedere duiker aantrekkelijk is. Um-El-Faroud Na te zijn gebouwd in Sunderland,Engeland begon het zijn carriere als vrachtschip. Daarna werd zij aangekocht door een Libisch bedrijf en omgebouwd tot olietanker waarbij het zijn huidige naam kreeg. Een tragisch ongeval waarbij het explodeerde in de droogdokken van Malta waar het lag voor reparatie, kostten negen mensen het leven. Als eerbetoon aan de slachtoffers is het afgezonken op de plek dat ‘Blue Grotto’ wordt genoemd. De top van het dek bevindt zich op 15 meter, de bodem op zo’n 36 meter. Bell Cave De grot ga je meestal binnen via de laagste opening op zo’n 22 meter, waarna je licht opstijgt en de grot weer kunt verlaten via een nauwe spleet in het rif. The left wall Begint op 9 meter en daalt af tot zo’n 33 meter. Prima muurduik, van begin tot eind krioelt het er van het onderwaterleven. Right Reef Aantrekkelijk kronkelt de muur vanuit het dal naar rechts en dealt vanuit de oppervlakte tot wel 30 meter. Wat wil je nog meer ? Ghar Lapsi Deze bijzonder mooie plek aan de Maltese kust is populair bij Maltesers zelf omdat er prima te zwemmen is en de rotsformaties uit het water rijzen en zo natuurlijke overkappingen vormen waar men wat schaduw vindt tegen de warme zomerzon. Voor duikers is het interessant vanwege het netwerk van ondiepe grotten en langzaam aflopend rif in kristal helder water met de zandbodem op slechts 15 meter. HMS Maori Deze kruiser uit de Tweede Wereld Oorlog ligt nu in het zand op 17 meter met het bovengedeelte op 9 meter onder de zeespiegel. Het wrak ligt op slechts 70 meter uit de kust in Sliema Creek onder het wakend oog van het Fort St Elmo. Een groot deel van het wrak ligt onder het zand, maar ondanks dat het wrak al meer dan 50 jaar onderwater ligt, is het nog steeds een erg interessante duik.
X139 Waterlighter Until very recently this vessel was thought to be just a service barge that was torpedoed in WWII whilst moored in the harbour. We now know that this barge is actually a vessel with significant historical value as it is in fact one of the last remaining examples of a fleet that was commissioned to land forces during the Gallipoli campaign. She now lies in a vertical position bow to stern 6 to 24 metres. Tug St.Michael and Tug No.10 Dicht bij elkaar afgezonken duwboten in de baai van Marsascala. Ze liggen dicht genoeg bij elkaar om ze in een duik te combineren. Nr. 10 de kleinere van de twee ligt op zo’n 19 meter, terwijl de St.Michael in zo’n diepte van 21 meter ligt. Duiken op Gozo Coral Cave Je zwemt eerst door een stuk dat de “tuin” wordt genoemd, waarna je via een v-vormige scheur in de rots , op 25 meter op een plateau uitkomt, uitkijkend in het azuur-blauw. Als je nu links doorzwemt kom je uit bij de enorme ingang van de Coral Cave op zo’n 18 meter. Op het plafond van de grot vind je verschillende harde koralen. Tevens worden er in de grot regelmatig zeepaardjes aangetroffen. Inland Sea We lopen het water in via een slipway. Na een korte zwemtocht over de ‘binnenzee’ dalen we langzaam af in de tunnel tot een maximale diepte van 25 meter. Al zwemmend door deze enorme tunnel in de kalkstenen klif, zie je aan het einde van de tunnel de mooiste blauwe kleuren. Eenmaal aan het einde gekomen kom je in open zee en verdwijnt de bodem naar meer dan 50 meter. De meeste duikers verkennen een van beide zijden aan het einde van de tunnel, waar je langs de muur het meest fantastisch onderwaterleven tegenkomt Crocodile Rock Vanaf de kant gezien lijkt deze rotspartij op een krokodil. De duik is mogelijk vanaf de kant maar wordt meestal gedaan als bootduik. De duik begint in een ondiepe lagoon tussen de 6 en 8 meter diep. Na enkele meters zwemmen daal je af langs een steile muur tot een maximale diepte van zo’n 45 meter. Duikers kunnen langs deze muur zwemmen in het gezelschap van grote baarzen, en scholen amberjacks en tonijnen. Ta' Cenc Cliffs Deze duikplek bevindt zich onderaan de hoogste kliffen van Gozo. Naaktslakjes en kreeften kun je hier aantreffen tussen de hier verspreide grote rotsen.
Blue Hole De Blue Hole is wereldberoemd en is te vinden aan de westkust van Gozo, genaamd Dwejra. De ingang via een lagoon biedt duikers van ieder caliber genoeg mogelijkheden. Prachtige grotten, muren en kristal helder water dragen bij tot zijn reputatie als eerste klas duikplek Xwejni De mozaiekachtige struktuur van de overgebleven traditionele zoutwinningsbassins geeft deze duikplek extra charme. Tijdens de duik kan men door diverse onderwaterkanalen zwemmen temidden van een grote verscheidenheid aan onderwaterleven, zoals congers, murenen, inktvissen, zeesterren en diverse soorten zeeëgels. Double Arch Reef Om deze duikplek te bereiken moet er een flink stuk gezwommen worden, maar het is het helemaal waard. De duikplek heeft deze naam te danken aan een unieke rotsformatie, waar twee bogen boven op elkaar staan. Door zijn ligging vinden we op deze plek scholen Damselfish en diverse Seabream. Vaak vinden we, indien er stroming staat, scholen barracudas. Cathedral Cave (The Blue Dome) De grot is te vinden in de Ghasri valley. Deze duik is vanaf de kant mogelijk maar er moet een stuk naar beneden gelopen worden via een steile helling. Aan de voet van het dal op zo’n 18 meter diepte bevindt zich de enorme ingang tot de Cathedral Cave. Binnen tref je op grote rotsen diverse soorten kleurrijke sponzen en zachte koralen aan. Tijdens de duik is het mogelijk aan het einde van de grot boven water te komen in een van de buitenlucht afgesloten ‘kamer’; erg mooi is dan het blauwe licht dat via de onderwater ingang binnen komt. Samengevat, heel erg de moeite waard. Reqqa Reef Tijdens deze duik zwem je langs een verticale wand die tot zo’n 40 meter diepte doorloopt. Vervlogens volg je een rif dat niet ondieper wordt dan 18 meter. De grote rotsen die met opzet lijken te zijn neergelegd vormen een ideale schuilplaats voor baarzen, tandbaarzen, inktvissen en grote schorpioenvissen. Billinghurst Cave Billinghurst cave bevindt zich in het noorden van het eiland. De top van de ingang van deze grot ligt net enkele meters onder de waterspiegel, terwijl de bodem op zo’n 27 meter ligt. Je gaat met een commandosprong vanaf de kliffen het water in, waarna je begint aan een 50 meter lange zwemtocht de grot in. Hier word je omgeven door kleurrijke sponzen en zachte koralen. Het is mogelijk aan het verre uiteinde van de grot boven water te komen, maar zo ver de grot inzwemmen is alleen aan te raden voor ervaren duikers met de benodigde uitrusting. Xlendi Bay Xlendi is een van Gozo’s toeristencentra. De baai ligt aan het einde van een lange nauwe cove, de noordzijde ligt beschermd achter steile kliffen, terwijl aan de zuidkant de cafés, restaurants en hotels te vinden zijn. Via een tunnel door de kliffen kom je in open zee. De duik begint in de baai op zo’n 9 meter diepte, waarna je door de tunnel zwemt, die al een prachtige ingang heeft vol met goatfish, damsel en cardinal fish. Eenmaal in de tunnel kun je het prachtige blauwe licht bewonderen dat door de uitgang naar binnen schijnt. In open zee zwem je voorts door een piramidevormig rif waar geregeld barracuda’s te vinden zijn. Fessej Rock Deze zee-berg rijst op vanaf zo’n 60 meter diepte. Tijdens deze bootduik zwem je rond de berg, waarbij je je diepte erg goed in de gaten dient te houden , maar natuurlijk ook moet genieten van de barracuda’s en de enorme baarzen. Xlendi Wreck Dit is een voormalig Nederlandse veerboot die afgezonken is op een diepte van zo rond de 40 meter. De afmetingen en het feit dat hij ondersteboven terecht is gekomen kunnen voor verwarring zorgen bij onvoorbereide duikers. Daarnaast moet je op deze diepte ook rekening houden met de effecten van stikstofnarcose op je inschattingsvermogen. Boot Duiken Bootduiken vanaf de Maltese eilanden. St Paul’s Eiland Na een korte boottocht vanuit St Paul’s Bay, kunnen we beginnen aan de duik rond de riffen van dit kleine eiland. Dit eiland zou de plek zijn geweest waar Sint Paul schipbreuk zou hebben geleden, en daardoor het Christendom naar Malta bracht. Beginnend op 5 meter diepte kun je afdalen langs muren en tussen rotsen tot een maximale diepte van 25 meter. Lahrax point Deze duik begint zodra de boot zijn anker heeft laten zakken dicht bij een ingestorte grot die de spectaculaire omgeving creeërt. De dieptes variren hier van 5 tot 25 meter, en we beëindigen deze duik meestal met een tochtje door een ‘blow hole’, een grot waarvan het dak is ingestort. Comino Caves Favoriet bij vele duikers is dit ondiep netwerk van grotten en nissen. Een van de hoogtepunten is natuurlijk het voeren van de duizenden sea-bream, die in grote scholen, iedere duiker die ook maar iets bij zich lijkt te hebben, bestormen. Crystal Lagoon Een ideale plek voor fotografen, waar het witte zand op de bodem de mediterrane zonnestralen weerspiegelt. Lantern Point We laten het anker meestal zakken op een ondiep rif waarna de duik begint met een afdaling door een tunnel, die begint op 5 meter en eindigt op 17 meter. Hierna kun je onder enkele enorme rotsen door je tocht voortzetten. Eenmaal weer terug bij de muur, kun je in de stroming barracuda’s waarnemen, terwijl in de muur murenen en kreeften te vinden zijn. De maximale diepte langs de muur is ongeveer 45 meter. Cominotto Reef Tijdens deze bootduik vind je alle Middelandse zeevissen die je maar kunt bedenken: Rainbow wrasse, sea bass, en duizenden damsel fish. Alex’s cave Dit is een erg fijne duik die niet dieper gaat dan zo’n 20 meter, en een tunnel in de rotsen biedt die tot 35 meter doorloopt. Deze duik is als eerste ‘grotduik’ voor niet al te ervaren duikers ideaal. Bristol Blenheim Bomber Neergeschoten net voor zijn landing op Malta tijdens de Tweede Wereld Oorlog, ligt hij nu voor de kust op 42 meter diepte. Tijdens de afdaling langs de ankerlijn doemt het vliegtuig op uit de diepte. Als dit de eerste keer is dat je deze duik doet zul je dit spectaculaire plaatje nooit meer vergeten. The Imperial Eagle Na zijn dienstjaren op de rivier de Thames in Londen heeft dit schip nog vele jaren dienst gedaan als veerboot tussen Malta en Gozo. Na jaren voor anker te hebben gelegen in Grand Harbour, werd zij uiteindelijk afgezonken op een halve mijl voor de kust bij Qawra Point. Zij staat nu rechtop op zo’n 40 meter diepte op het zand naast tussen twee prachtige riffen. Op deze duikplek bevind zich ook een groot beeld van Christus en een heel oud anker dat klem zit in onder een doorgang onder het rif. Torpedo boot Terwijl deze Italiaanse torpedo boot mijnen aan het leggen was rond Malta liep hij zelf op een mijn en zonk naar een diepte van 40 meter. Zij ligt nu verspreid over een 50 vierkante meter, omgeven door onderdelen van vliegtuigen en ander oorlogs materieel. De duik geeft een goed idee wat er een ravage aangericht wordt als een schip op een mijn loopt. HMS Hellespont Deze houten radarboot liep in de Tweede Wereld oorlog op een mijn toen nog in actieve dienst. Zij zond onmiddellijk en staat nu rechtop op de bodem op een diepte van 41 meter. Een prachtig wrak dat er nog verbazend intact uitziet. De St. Angelo Een tweede wereld oorlog mijnen jager die op een mijn liep op zijn route naar Grand Harbour. Zij ligt nu in 53 meter water. HMS Stubborn Bijna rechtop op een 57 meter diepte ligt in zeer mooi voorbeeld van een Engelse S klasse onderzeeër te wachten op die duikers met de benodigde training en ervaring. Na jaren van trouwe dienst werd de Stubborn afgezonken als doel voor sonar training, nog geen 2 mijl uit de noordoost kust van Malta. Wij duiken deze duik als een extended range duik, omdat deze duik als een enkele tank duik te veel risico’s met zich meebrengt. The Polynesian Dit Franse vrachtschip zonk tijdens de Eerste Wereld oorlog. Met een lengte van 145 meter ligt zij tussen een diepte van 53 en 70 meter. Dit wrak heeft de bijnaam ‘The Plate ship’ omdat er nog grote aantallen artefacten, waaronder borden, gevonden kunnen worden. Wederom is dit een extended range of trimix duik. HMS Southwold Britse destoyer die op een mijn liep tijdens de tweede wereld oorlog. Vele pogingen werden gedaan het schip nog te bergen, maar het lag onder constant vuur van vijandelijke jagers. Zij ligt nu in twee delen op een diepte variërend van 60 tot 75 meter op een zandbodem ten zuiden van Grand Harbour. Bristol Beau Fighter Dit Britse vliegtuig werd in de Tweede Wereld oorlog neergeschoten en ligt nu op 40 meter diepte. Munxar Cave De ingang van deze grot ligt op 15 meter boven op het rif. De ruime uitgang bereik je nadat je in de grot bent afgedaald tot een diepte van 40 meter. Imgieles Reef Dit rif begint op 18 meter en loopt langzaam af tot een diepte van 40 meter. Op en rond het rif ligt het bezaait met overblijfselen van oorlogs materieel Delimara Cave Deze grot kan men binnegaan door een gat in het rif op 21 meter diepte. Eenmaal binnen kun je via een schoorsteen langzaam richting de uitgang die zich op 9 meter bevind. Munxar Reef Dit rif loopt van 15 meter to 45 meter diepte en is erg rijk aan onderwaterleven. Er zit ook een scheur in het rif dat toegang geeft tot een grot. Deze is duik is te doen als een of twee duiken. Als prachtige edelstenen gezet in een zee van het puurste blauw geven de 5 eilanden van Malta, Gozo, Comino, Comminotto en Filfa de vakantieganger een geweldige ervaring, zowel boven als onder water. De warme transparante blauwe Middellandse zee die de eilanden omgeeft nodigt de duikers onder haar oppervlak de vele verborgen schatten te ontdekken die wereldberoemd zijn en die jaarlijks door vele duizenden bezocht worden. De tijloze wateren zijn het hele jaar door toegankelijk waarbij elk seizoen haar eigen karakter en charmes toont. De eilanden zijn omgeven door indrukwekkende grotten, spelonken en tunnels die met veel plezier onderzocht kunnen worden door degenen die ze weten te vinden. Dive Deep Blue bevindt zich dicht bij St Paul’s Bay temidden van de twee toeristencentra Buggiba en Qawra in het noordoosten van Malta. Het is het ideale startpunt voor je vakantie. Ontwikkeld met in het oog toerisme bent u verwend met keuze uit accommodatie, van 3 tot 5 sterren hotels of voor de onafhankelijke reiziger is er een grote keuze uit zelfcatering appartementen. Vervoer is op het eiland geen probleem. Fietsen, motoren, auto’s of jeeps u zult ontdekken dat het leven hier minder gehaast is, zeker als u er voor kiest met de bus te reizen. De bus dienst is goedkoop en regelmatig, maar niemand zal beweren dat het snel is. Met een perfecte selectie van restaurants, cafés en pizzeria’s, heeft u een ruime keus aan snelle snack of uitgebreid diner, hoeft u niet bang te zijn te weinig calorieën binnen te krijgen. Daarnaast kunt u een van de vele dorpsfeesten bezoeken. Met tijdens de zomermaanden minimaal een feest per week ergens op het eiland kunt u dit niet missen. Kleurrijke kostuums, groots vuurwerk is waar de Maltese cultuur om bekend staat. Op een ‘festa’ kunt u zich mengen met de lokale bevolking die erom bekend staat erg vriendelijk te zijn en u erg welkom doen voelen. Door zijn ligging temidden van vele grotere landen heeft de Maltees een grote talenknobbel. Naast het Maltees, is engels hun tweede taal, terwijl ook Italiaans door velen begrepen wordt. Echter is er altijd wel iemand in de buurt die Duits, Frans of Nederlands verstaat. Kinderen hebben een speciaal plekje binnen de Maltese samenleving, en kinderen zijn dan ook van harte welkom als u uit eten gaat, maar er is ook prima opvang voor uw kinderen mogelijk. Dus verwen uzelf met een paar prachtige duiken samen met DIVE DEEP BLUE, en ondervind zelf waarom zo velen u al zijn voorgegaan! Tot binnenkort. Beginnend bij mijzelf, Jonathan Thomas, Padi Master Instructor, BS-AC Advanced Instructor, DSAT en ANDI ERD Trimix Instructor, samen met mijn vrouw Catherine die zich bezig houd met de bookingen en het kantoorwerk (terwijl wij uuit spelen zijn). Ik duik al langer dan dat ik kan herinneren en heb de afgelopen jaren als full time professioneel instructeur bij verschillende duikcentra over de wereld gewerkt en heb Malta 17 jaar geleden gekozen als thuisbasis. Samen met mijn gelijk denkende kameraad startte ik dit avontuur met het idee een duikcentrum waar we zelf ook graag naar toe zouden gaan voor een duikvakantie. Mijn "partner in crime" is Jonathan Mitchell. Jon een Padi MSDT en BSAC Advanced Instgructor, heeft ook vele jaren ervaring op dit vakgebied en als gids in de Maltese wateren. Voeg dit samen met een groot gevoel voor humor (hij werd tenslotte mijn compagnon). Samen hebben we veel lokale kennis van de omgeving te bieden. In de zomermaanden nemen we meestal enkele extra instructeurs aan zodat we de extra drukte in die maanden aan kunnen. We zien erop toe dat de personen die voor ons werken VEILIGHEID en plezier hoog in het vaandel dragen. Tevens vinden we het belangrijk dat onze instructeurs ervaring en kennis hebben van de Maltese eilanden, en in staat zijn dezelfde hoge standaard die wij nastreven te kunnen handhaven op het gebied van klant gerichtheid en vriendelijkheid.
