ENTRY LEVEL
Ocean Diver - 5 days
BSAC's entry level course is the Ocean Diver.
It is divided into 5 "training modules" each of which
is divided into 2 parts, a knowledge section, and a practical pool (or
confined water) session. After these there is an assessment followed by
4 ocean dives. Included in the course an elementary lifesaving and
a swimming test.
The Knowledge Development sections teach how your body
behaves under pressure, about diving techniques and about equipment.
These are done with the help of the BSAC Ocean Diver Study Book and the
BSAC Sports Diving Manual and a video. Your first dives are in the
comfortable confines of our training Pool. Here you get familiar with
and practice using the equipment and diving techniques including basic
lifesaving.
Once you are ready we take you on to the Ocean Dives
section. These dives are completed under the watchful eye of our BSAC
Instructor repeating in open water the newly mastered skills that you
practiced in the pool and allowing you to develop those skills while
enjoying your new sport.\
The BSAC Ocean Diver Pack is required. (current cost
UK 40) This consists of a study book, qualification record book, and the
BSAC Diving manual, a standard reference book for this level.
